Vivere, the Best of Andrea Bocelli page

Yes, it's been over a year and a half since I updated the lyrics archive.  So far we just have the lyrics to the new songs on Vivere, the Best of Andrea Bocelli.  I'll get those translations as quickly as possible.

Pag and Cav pages

New pages have been added for Andrea's fifth and sixth opera recordings of Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana.

New titles and links

Andrea's discography has become so vast that I changed the links to the various pages in the archive from graphics to text in order to keep the pages logical and proportional.

Amore page

It's a work in progress, but a new page has been added for Andrea's latest pop CD, the exquisite Amore.   I'll continue to add to the translations as quickly as possible.  Thank you, Corina and Carolyn for all your help!

On the Home page:

  • New GuestBook
    • You're invited to sign the new guest book.  The old one is still there for viewing but was becoming unreliable to perform administrative management.
  • New GuestMaps
    • For a little interactive fun, we have new guest maps.  You can mark your location in the world and we can get a sense of Andrea's widespread popularity.  Because there are historically many more visitors to the site from the USA, there is a separate map to provide room for everyone!
  • New Bocelli Crossword
    • You're invited to test your knowledge of Bocelli trivia by trying the new crossword puzzle.  If you think this is fun and would like to see new puzzles in the future, please send me some question suggestions.
  • Cosmetic enhancements
    • There are new graphics and cosmetic improvements to the links on the homepage.

Notte 'e piscatore

I was contacted by the fan club of Maurizio Morante, the composer of "Notte 'e piscatore."  They have graciously provided the true lyrics for this song that Andrea performed in duet with Maestro Pavarotti during the Pavarotti & Friends 2 concert in 1994.  The lyrics that appeared here for the past few years were transcribed by a Bocelli fan who grew up in a home that spoke the neopolitan dialect.  It's a real treat to now have the official version.  If you would like to visit the fan club site, go to www.mauriziomorante.it.

Corrections

A Greek fan provided a translation of "s'agapo, maista, es aei" in the song, "A Volte il Cuore."  It means, "I love you, indeed, forever."  Regretably, the translation of "Nuda carmina ad majora / Nuda carmina in carmine" is still a mystery.

Several people have provided corrections to the various versions of "Vivo Per Lei."  The German version has been updated and we now have a translation of the text.  Some corrections were made in the Spanish translation.

Two additions to Andrea page

The lyrics and translations for Semplicemente and Domani (the tracks that do not appear on the U.S. version of "Andrea") are now included on the "Andrea" page.

New page title graphics have been added and other minor cosmetic improvements.

Andrea's performance of the Pearl Fisher's duet with Bryn Terfel at the Classical BRIT Awards last May is featured in the new feature page, "The World Is Their Oyster!"

Career timeline

A page has been added to track events in Andrea's career.    If you know of important events that you would like to see recorded, please send them to me.

Guestbook map

The AB Lyrics Archive has visitors from all over the world!  Check out the new guestbook map.

Boheme slide shows removed

Due to decreases in space and bandwidth allowances on the free Tripod server (where my streaming content resides,) the audio slide shows on the La Boheme page have been removed.

Performance improvements

The archive now has more disk space and data transfer bandwidth, so you should no longer experience interruptions in service.  And the site no longer has those annoying pop up ads!

New page for the Statue of Liberty Concert and more concert songs

A new page has been added to honor the Statue of Liberty Concert and with it come two new songs to the archive...  the "Brindisi" from Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and "Vaghissima Sembianza."

The Fall Tour of  2001 has brought some beautiful additions to the "In Concert" page:

  • "Mamma, quel vino è generoso" (Turiddu's farewell) from Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana.
  • "Donna non vidi mai"  from Puccini's Manon Lescaut.  I also picked up "Tra voi, belle" from Manon Lescaut which Andrea did during the 2001 Spring Tour.
  • And of course, "Because" which I didn't get to hear because I went to the San Jose concert where Andrea refused to sing it despite Steven Mercurio's (and the audience's) pleadings!
  • Many thanks to Nancy Ciasulli who provided the fabulous photo of Ana Maria, Andrea, and Steven.

And we have a small addition to the Cieli di Toscana page - the French version of the "L'Incontro" poem as recited by Gérard Depardieu.

Vivo Per Lei streaming media & Silent Night in Italian

I have changed the audio clips for Vivo Per Lei to be streaming media.  This means you should have faster access since it will not download to your computer before playing the clips.

And as I watched my new Sacred Arias DVD during Christmas, I discovered the Italian lyrics for Silent Night ... Astro Del Ciel.

Cieli di Toscana Bonus Track

I have added the lyrics for the bonus track, "Tornerà La Neve", to the Cieli di Toscana page.  This track is included in the UK version of the CD, and it is featured in the Tuscan Skies TV special that aired on A&E.  Also, I added a translated line that was missing from the third verse of  the song, "Si Voltò."

October 31, 2001

Cieli di Toscana di Italia

I have updated the Cieli di Toscana page to include lyrics from the Italian version.  The song, "Someone Like You," is performed in English, and Andrea recites his "L'Incontro" poem in Italian.  I added a more literal translation of the poem than that which Bono recites in the English version.  This translation appeared in the concert program for the 1998 Tour of the Americas.

We also have a reprint of the press release for Cieli di Toscana courtesy of CineMedia Promotions and links to the Bocelli artist page at www.iclassics.com.

October 19, 2001

The Concert page has been updated to include the 2001 Spring Tour.  I have also added slide shows with short audio clips from the Spring Tours of  2000 and 2001 as well as the Fall Tour of 1999.  And yes, "Nessun dorma" is included!

  • pictures from Andrea's performance in La Bohème in Sardinia in 1998
  • an audio slide show of the final scene (please have your Kleenex handy!)

My new Brazilian friend, Cailiny, informed me that Andrea also recorded a Portuguese/Spanish version of Vivo Per Lei with a singer named Sandy Leah Lima.  Sandy records and performs in Brazil with her brother as the popular duo, Sandy & Junior.  She was only 14 years old when she made this recording for the Brazilian version of Romanza which is entitled Romanza em Espanhol.

An alphabetic index of all the songs and arias contained in the archive can be accessed at the top of each page.  This should help you find something more quickly when you know the name of the piece but not the CD.
